Odyssey's adult inpatient programs help individuals improve their communication skills, emotion regulation, and address the negative stigma associated with drug use. Our treatment team includes licensed mental health therapists who are specially trained to work with mental health issues like depression, anxiety, mood disorders, antisocial personality disorder, and trauma. It is very common for adults struggling with substance abuse to have mental health needs. By the time people successfully complete our care, they will be sober, employed, housed, have access to medical care, and independently living a healthy life. The program is designed to help establish supports, facilitate relapse management, and. We offer day treatment, intensive outpatient and outpatient services. We tackle drug addiction from the ground up - combining services to address substance abuse, mental health, negative beliefs and behaviors, poor job skills, housing, physical health, rebuilding healthy relationships and more. Flint Odyssey House’s outpatient services are for people with substance use disorders (SUD) or dual diagnoses who do not require medical withdrawal management or 24-hour supervision. Therefore, women in the program will begin Seeking Safety sessions immediately upon entering treatment and moving into TREM groups once Seeking Safety is completed.Since 1971, Odyssey's Adult Residential substance abuse program has helped tens of thousands of people across the nation. At Odyssey House, we believe that integrated care is the most effective approach to achieving that goal. TREM is a model that more directly addresses healing from abuse, including sharing trauma histories and stories. ![]() ![]() TREM builds on the work that is being conducted in Seeking Safety sessions. The ultimate goal of TREM is to address both the short-term and long-term consequences of violent trauma and victimization, particularly PTSD, depression, and substance abuse. This gender-specific group-based service helps women to develop coping skills and social supports and is delivered by trained clinicians over 24-29 weekly 75-minute sessions. The Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM) is an intervention that enables trauma recovery among women with histories of exposure to sexual and physical abuse. All of the Seeking Safety coping skills apply to both trauma and addiction at the same time – providing integrated treatment that can help boost motivation and guide clients to see the connections between their trauma and addiction issues. It stays in the present, teaching a broad array of safe coping skills that they may never have learned if they grew up in dysfunctional families or may have lost along the way as their addiction and trauma spiraled downward. Seeking Safety was specifically developed to help survivors with co-occurring trauma and substance use disorders in a way that does not ask them to delve into emotionally distressing trauma narratives. Our Seeking Safety program is often thought of as a first step in trauma recovery, as it does not address the trauma directly but instead focuses on coping skills related to trauma. ![]()
